Orlando Car Accidents Hopefully Reduced with FHP Campaign 113
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is at it again.  They are on the hunt for aggressive drivers of both cars and trucks.  Drivers are asked to take deep breaths - or whatever else they need to do - to stay calm on our roadways.  The FHP recently announced it will be launching a safe-driving campaign from February 27th through the 29th to catch aggressive drivers, who increase the risks of car accidents in Orlando.

Officials believe nearly 90 percent of car accidents are caused by driver actions.  The rest are caused by poor weather, road conditions and vehicle defects.  That's why the FHP is using this new campaign to help to calm drivers and make our roadways safer for everyone.

Our Orlando car accident attorneys see it all the time: Drivers zipping in and out of traffic, speeding, giving the finger, running red lights and tailgating other vehicles.  These drivers are not getting to their destination any sooner and they're definitely not improving roadway safety.  Yes, we all get a little irritated behind the wheel at times.  It's how we deal with this irritation that can make the different between a potentially fatal accident and a safe arrival.

"The Florida Highway Patrol is committed to keeping our roadways safe for all motorists, and we are pleased to partner with the Florida Trucking Association on this safety campaign," Col. David Brierton said.

To help alert Florida drivers about the upcoming campaign, the FHP is putting up a number of billboards and airing radio spots.  The goal of the campaign is to help raise driver awareness about their habits behind the wheel.  Now, there's a heightened risk of receiving a ticket for a violation.  Troopers with the FHP will also be conducting activities, events and seminars at schools and community centers around the area to help to educate drivers about the dangers that are associated with aggressive driving habits.

The President and the CRO of the Florida Trucking Association, Mary Lou, Rajchel, says that roadway safety has to be achieved through a cooperative effort by both car and truck drivers.  She says that the trucking industry has safety as a top priority and asks everyone else to join.  She also reiterates the importance of blind spot awareness.  Large vehicles have wider blind spots.  Motorists are asked to be cautious when they are around large trucks.  Traffic accidents involving large trucks often produce deadly results.

Before and after this campaign, officials with the Institute of Police Technology and Management will be conducting surveys to see just how effective this campaign was.  Feedback will influence future campaigns.
